  1. I have done Art Journal Summer School in the past and it is loads of fun. So many different ideas. I’d love to do it again. Of course, I nominate myself, Carol. Not because I’m greedy, but because i actually don’t know a single soul who would be interested! How sad is that? By the way, I love your art, and love watching you create it. Thanks for this opportunity.

    Carol

  2. I would love to attend Art Journal Summer School 2018. It has been many years since I have taken a fun art course and I relish the opportunity to immerse myself in one. My bucket needs to be filled and my soul set aflame. (not literally mind you but setting a fire under my … would not be a bad thing.) Thanks!

    Suzan

  3. I took this course a few summers ago and it was fantastic! I nominate myself, Tina, for a spot because I would love to learn some new mixed media art journaling techniques from you Iris and all the other wonderful teachers! It would be such a bright, colorful and happy part of my summer! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  4. I have never done this but it looks like it is right up my alley. I never know where to start, what else to do, how to be creative. I end up kind of repeating the few techniques I know. Love your page! Thank you for a wonderful opportunity with this inspiring line up of teachers!!

  5. Hi Iris, I did the first two years of AJSS and loved it a lot. I would like to nominate my friend Dica, she never did any artjournal courses accept for the life one I gave. And she loved it a lot. She is really creative, so I so would like for her to do this. Thanks Iris

  6. I’ve been looking at this for the past few years but have never been able to take the plunge. I’d love to try it this time though…and I also nominate myself, Michelle….simply because I don’t know another that would be interested. I tend to ‘art’ alone or along with youtubers online, so it’s not something my “real life” friends are interested in.

    Thanks for this chance!!

  7. I would be so happy when I can attend this course. I don’t go on holiday and in summer I’m most of the time indoors due to heat intolerance (m.s) so this course would be as traveling to the nicest places in my creative imaginations.
I nominate myself because in July is my birthday and when I win I have a good reason to get some more art supplies as birthday present. 🙂

  8. I would love to nominate myself to win a spot. I took your Journal course where we created a Rainbow Journal, and it was so much fun. I would love to learn some more techniques! Thank you!

  9. Trying to make time for myself to make art. But time is tough. Maybe with the guidance of activities all ready thought out, and limited supplies, just maybe I can embrace the time I spend making art. I would love a spot.

Oh, and I nominate myself as well…..I don’t know anyone either that is creative in this way. sniff…..

  10. Woohoo! Congrats on being back for another edition of AJSS! 😀 The line up is amazing this year!

I would love to win (spot 1), but I also want to nominate someone! So I’m going to nominate my neighbour Monique for spot 2. She’s in Marieke’s Jot class and I think she would love AJSS too!

  11. I did AJSS last summer and it was so much fun! I’m overwhelmed with online classes right now, but there’s no way I’d miss out on this one! Thanks for the chance to win a spot!

  12. I would love to win a spot! This course super appeals to me in that the supply list is limited which is something I struggle with. I nominate my daughter Shelby Rosenthal because she needs a break and a creative outlet.

  13. I’d love to join this class this summer, thank you for the chance. Also, I’d like to nominate myself as I really really want to join ☺️

  14. I love it, I can’t wait to get started on AJSS2018. YAY!!!
I especially love that I know a lot of the teachers, and excited to get to know the ones I don’t know.

  15. I have been working on doing something every day that is creative. I participated in Sketchbook Revival with Karen Abend this past month, and I learned so much! I have been doing art since I was in elementary school but I don’t have any formal training – at least not until I discovered all of these wonderful creative talented artists teaching on line. I have taken classes from you through Let’s Face it and I think maybe Lifebook? I would love to be able to take this course, too!

  16. Oh This looks like a great course during summer. I would love to win this. I will stay at home during summer, now I know what I can do. I know your work, And I know the work of the other artists. So This must be a lot of fun.
So I nominee myself, because I need it after a very stressful year.
I will keep my fingers crossed.

  17. Hi, this sounds incredibly inspiring! I’d love a spot please! (Spot 1)

… and I’d like to nominate my lovely mum Chris, who loves to dabble in her dedicated craft room- she’d really appreciate Spot 2 over the summer.

    Thanks!

  18. What a lovely way to spend my summer crafting time and learn how to express my creativity! I nominate myself because I never win anything!

  19. Spot 1: sounds like a great online class!
Spot 2: I nominate myself because I’ve got all the materials, the summer’s stretching ahead and full of possibilities, but I’m not sure how to start an art journal, or how to fill the pages!

  20. Okay, of course I want to win one of the spots cuz I can’t seem to be consistent about my journaling and it is because I am not sure what to do in it and I need inspiration. On nominating here is my dilemma. I wanted to nominate both my daughters so that does not work, then I thought I will nominate one of my granddaughters..but I have 3 and they would all want me to nominate them, then I thought I will nominate my niece but then I thought my daughters would wonder why I did not nominate them…..how about a friend….naaaaa…I nominate me …teehee 🙂

  21. I would love to take this class this year. I have wanted to for years and have not been able to so far. I hate to say this, but I nominate myself. Unfortunately I do not know anyone who would be interested but me. This would be the best way to spend my son’s summer vacation!

  22. I have completed AJSS in the past and it was 😉 amazing. The line of of teacher is always fantastic and with each having their own unique style.

I nominate my friend Michelle Z who underwent a radical bilateral mastectomy last Wednesday. She is an amazing artist in her own right and I know she would enjoy working together with us and her beautiful daughter Chloe.

  23. Hi Iris, i would love to win a spot at AJSS. I always struggle what to take with me when i travel. It’s very difficult, so i’m looking forward to create art with only the supplies in the bag. Therefor i nominate myself because i want to challenge myself. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  24. I would love to win a spot in AJSS this year. I was in the first class and had a blast! I have to nominate myself because (1) all of my crafty friends are card makers and dont art journal and (2) I would be honored to sit through summer school with such a fantastic group of teachers!

  25. Summer school 2018 looks awesome!
Im nominating myself because after decades of health issues and still putting everyone first, I think its finally my time to do something for myself to get my art groove back. Thank you for putting it together and the opportunity to win a spot. 🙂

  26. There are several artist that I know and love watching them create. I would nominate myself to win because am still trying to find my way into art journaling and what better way than Art Journal Summer School. Thank you!

  27. Hi Iris, began my art journal practice with AJSS and was so inspired the first two summers. I drew my first ever face with your class in 2014 and learned so much from you and your blog. I am nominating me, Christine, to win since I am on a stay vacation again this summer and find this class keeps me engaged with my art. Thank you so much for the opportunities to win!!!

  28. I did the course back in 2015 and loved the tutorials and inspiration it gave me to let go and have fun with art supplies. I nominate myself as honestly, funds have not been available to book any of the other courses since and I’d love to do it again. Thanks!

  29. I would like to nominate myself. I’ve never taken a course like this. It sounds very fun and inspirational.

  30. I already signed up for a second year of AJSS. Loved it last year and looking forward to another creative summer! I haven’t ‘worked’ with you before so I can’t wait! A refund would be awesome of course 😊

I would love to nominate my 21 year old daughter Robin. She has a hard time at the moment and never art journaled before. She simply doesn’t know where to begin because it is so overwhelming for her. AJSS is with limited supplies and short videos which makes it a lot easier to start. She is creative and is a student of a creative studies but her perfectionism isn’t her friend when it comes to making free art for just your self. That is why I hope she wins a spot! ❤

Thank you for this opportunity to win Iris (and Marieke of course)! I really enjoyed your YouTube series together 😊

  31. I have never participated in an Art Journal Summer School but I would so much love to! I believe that it would really help me with my art journey as I feel a bit lost, it would probably make me believe more in my artistic skills and find my style. I nominate myself, Elena, as I don’t have friends that are into art to nominate them 🙁 , and because I really feel that these lessons will help me so much.

  32. This is a great opportunity to get my “mojo” back. I haven’t created a journal page in months and i need something to get me started again. That’s why i nominate myself (although it feels a bit greedy to do so….).
Several years ago i participated in the first art journal summer school and i really enjoyed it.
Thank you Iris for this great giveaway!

    Groetjes Joanita

  33. This is not my type of creativity, in truth ‘art journals’ are a puzzle. However I have all the supplies so it looks a good fit to find out more and explore with guidance, especially as I Follow some of the tutors already, inc yourself,Iris.

  34. I would love to win. I’m just starting an art journal and I need to learn more things. I nominate myself, because I do not have anyone else to mention and because I need it and I deserve it 😉. Thank you so much!!

  35. Yay! Love that you are one of the teachers! Loved previous lessons I did from you! And I totally love AJSS! One of the best courses there is. Big fan of all Marieke’s courses, but this one stands out. Exactly what you say, because of the easy suplly list and doability. Looking forward to a creative summer!
I would love to nominate my friend Marit Bentvelsen. She reintroduced being creativ to me again a few years ago and it has really helped me to find a way to deal with stress from work and life. She is one of the most sweet people I know and really creative as well! She really deserves this!
Thanks for joining and looking forward to your lesson!

  36. The class sounds like a lot of fun! I especially like that it focuses on materials that most people who enjoy working in mixed media will already have on hand! I love learning new techniques from amazing artists and am intrigued by discovering the work of those who I’ve been unfamiliar with. Thanks for the opportunity to win a spot!

  37. Thank you for the opportunity. I would love to nominate my dear friend Margaret Butcher – she is not into journaling and I REALLY want her to get inspired! Thank you!

  38. I would love to take Art Journal Summer School 2018 ~ thanks so much for the chance, fingers crossed 🤞!!

  39. I keep saying I’m going to start and be consistent in an art journal…. but it just never seems to happen. Being present in a class situation and with inspiration from teachers and fellow students is probably what I need to do.

  40. Hi Iris!

For the third year now I’m going to take part in AJSS, so great that you are going to teach this year, I’m following you on Instagram for a while now and really enjoy your work. For the free spot I want to nominate my friend Els, we know each other from high school and she is a very creative person, but in the rush of daily life she takes to little time to be creative. Every year I tell her about summer school and she is very enthousiastic about it but never took part in it…..so if I win this spot for her she “has”to join and I hope that she will then find out how fun and easy it is to be more creative with art journalling!

Thank you for the chance to win a spot!
    Hugs from Holland,
    Marit

  41. I would like to win a spot as I have had depression for 2 years and need something nice to happen in my life… I’ve never won anything and the creative push and inspiration would definitely help me find myself and get my mojo back. Thank you Iris 🙂

  42. I would love to win a spot & also nominate myself because I am in need of inspiration this summer! I’ve been in an art slump and believe that this summer course will definitely help get my creative juices running again. Thanks for this opportunity!!

  43. This is my first time taking this course. I am looking forward to learning some new things as well as getting some well needed inspiration.I am having a particularly difficult year due to personal loss. I really need to delve into art journalling again. I lost my gusto for all things artistic this year. I need to get my mojo back and I am sure this course will boost my interest again. I nominate myself as well. Thank you for brightening my day by this offer! Getting excited!

  44. I nominate myself for two reasons; one selfish and one benevolent. I have been teaching art for 31 years. The time that I have devoted to teaching has left me little time for my own art. This summer will be a rare one in that I am not teaching and devoting that time to nurturing myself artistically. Art journaling has interested me for some time but have been unsuccessful at getting it done. The second reason I would love to be chosen is for my students. As education and students have changed over time I have been moving away from teacher driven lessons to more student driven lessons allowing students more choices and more personal art. I believe art journals fit this shift beautifully but have only had moderate success with my attempts to bring this to my students. I would love to learn more creative ways to bring this very expressive art form to my students. Thank you for this opportunity.

  45. yeah congratulations for being a teacher at AJJS again. And you’re in amazing compagnie, such a great line-up.

So sweet of you to give away 2 spot, thank you for that.
Of course i would like to win a spot for myself (so that will be spot 1).
But i also would like to nominate my 9 year old son (for spot nr 2). He’s totally into art journaling, even got a real bloknote journal. i know he would love joining, cause he love’s drawing and painting, he even watched Marieke lessons with me….
